I purchased my first Akita in 1991. I bought a pet/companion quality male from a pet store. We STRONGLY URGE you not to do that! ALL dogs that are bred for pet stores are from PUPPY MILLS! Not ONE responsible breeder sells their puppies to a pet store. None of their breeding stock is OFA'd, CERF'd, thyroid checked or temperament checked. They do it for money, and money alone. THEY ARE NOT  shown in the conformation ring, to prove their worthiness as for breeding (which is what conformation shows are). THEY ARE NOT shown in performance events either. They are NOT trying to improve the breed, only line their pockets with money at the dogs expense. They do not screen buyers to make sure this breed will fit their lifestyle, nor will they take dogs back when they don't work out. You will pay at least as much for a dog in a pet store, as you will from a responsible breeder. Put an END to puppy mills and DON'T buy a dog from a pet store or broker. Now on to where that lead me...
My first dog "Boku" ended up with some serious anxieties, was very skittish and afraid of everything. To try to help him, I began going to agility classes. I "got bitten by the bug" as they say in the dog world! Boku also found his "niche", he wasn't afraid of anything in class! We trained and trained-- and in the end made Akita history. To see our accomplishments go too U-ACHX U-CD Boku Sabaku AX CD CGC VAX
My next dog was Grizzly, he too has taught me many lessons, and was also purchased from a puppy mill. I loved him dearly- he was my soul mate, but wasn't bred from good stock, only bred to line the pocket of someone who only does damage to the breed. He was the cutest, funniest dog, with loads of character, but not of sound mind or body, and one I  never breed. Both of these boy's were my neutered house pets. And, on that note, I'd like to add, this is an unusual situation, 2 males getting along. I NEVER recommend this to anyone. To see and read about Grizzly, go too GRIZZLY'S PAGE.
Rhythm was my foundation bitch. She was a of blended pedigree. She's a finished Champion, both AKC and UKC. She is also novice agility titled in both. She is a proven producer, had a wonderful temperament, and was very typey.
To read about Rhythm, go too AKC/UKC CH. U-AG1  Kuroki Rhythms Gonna Getcha NA CGC VA ROM.
I bred Rhythm to  BISS AM/CAN CH Northlands Shere Khan of SDM AOM CGC in March 1999,  and produced 10 healthy puppies. I kept CH. Shobo's Shere Force TT, aka; "POWER". He's a lovely brindle with beautiful type.
To see Power, go too CH. Shobo's Shere Force TT.  You can also see some of the other puppies from the litter at RHYTHM X SHERE KHAN PUPPIES. We now have a stud puppy back Shobo's The Power Of Rhythm from him. Rhythms 9 puppies from second litter out of  BISS CH. Timberskys Outlaw Justice were born April 2001 ! We  added CH. Shobo's Queen Of Rhythm AOM CGC TT, aka; "DIVA" to our kennel. She has been a dream come true.
To see her go too BISS CH. Shobo's Queen of Rhythm AOM CGC TT.
You can also see the repeat breedings of RHYTHM X JUSTICE and all of the others on the website under "Family of Akitas", along with Diva's first litter sired by CH. Regalia's American Emblem ROM.
From that litter we kept our awesome white bitch Sizzle CH. Shobo Diva's One Hot Number and a male Diva clone Reagan CH. Shobo's One For The Gipper.
I am a small breeder, with 5 kennels. I don't breed often, but for a specific purpose- to keep the next generation of and improve the breed. My dogs are part of my family. I  have no more than 5 adult dogs at a time.
On a personal note, I am a  professional fire-fighter (SHOBO is fire-fighter in Japanese:), an avid workout buff and take great pride in maintaining my home/yard and dogs. Needless to say,  keep very busy! To see pictures "on the job" go to PICTURES.
